Competition for jobs in India spiked 30% since 2019: LinkedIn data

According to the labor market data from LinkedIn, hiring in India has experienced a recovery with a 12 percent year-on-year growth rate in August 2020. However, competition for jobs has increased by 30 percent compared to last year.

LinkedIn’s data also reveals that professionals in the Recreation & Travel, Retail, and Corporate Services industries are more inclined to search for job opportunities outside of their current fields. Specifically, individuals in Recreation and Travel are 3.8 times more likely to make this switch, while those in Retail are 1.5 times more likely, and those in Corporate Services are 1.4 times more likely.

In terms of skills, Python emerged as the fastest growing skill in India for the period of 2019-2020, as stated by LinkedIn. Following Python, Machine Learning, Data Structures, Digital Marketing, and HTML 5 were also noted as skills experiencing growth.
